Kristi L. Richards is Of Counsel at Salish Elder Law. She focuses her practice on estate planning and tax advice, as well as probate and trust administration. She enjoys the challenge of planning for individuals and couples with nontraditional planning needs, presenting information on estate planning and probate, and talking about tax.


She received her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Buena Vista University, and her law degree and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Washington. Kristi has practiced at various elder law and tax firms in the greater Seattle area working on matters, including civil litigation, business formation, estate planning and related issues, trust creation, probate and estate administration, property agreements (pre and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation, and other), guardianship/conservatorships, fiduciary representation, special needs trusts and basic Medicaid Planning, and LGBTQ+ legal issues.

Kristi is the past Treasurer of Washington Women in Tax. She is also a member of the Washington State Bar Association Elder Law Section and Taxation Section, the King County Bar Association Guardianship and Elder Law Section, and QLaw (the LGBTQ+ Bar Association of Washington). She is also member of the QLaw Judicial Evaluation Committee. She enjoys reading and baking shortbread, and contemplates her CDL as a retirement option.
